NEON and LED Message Waiting Lights:

Most telephone systems require a standard Neon message waiting light. This is 90 to 140 volts on the idle line (when the phone is hung up, and not in use).  

If you have an AT&T Partner, Legend or System 25, 75 or 85, a low voltage message waiting light, an LED type, is required. On the AT&T Definity system, you can program each extension to use either NEON or LED type lights.
